Over 265,000 Doses Distributed to Vulnerable Long-Term Care Population Across 23 States

SOMERSET, New Jersey, – December 20, 2021 (BUSINESS WIRE)–PharmScript, a leading pharmacy provider to long-term and post-acute care facilities, today acknowledged one year of distributing and administering the COVID-19 vaccine to long-term care facilities. PharmScript has distributed over 265,000 doses to long-term care residents and staff since starting to rollout vaccines in December 2020. In addition to COVID-19 related services, PharmScript supplies medication, clinical support, and quality assurance to more than 900 long-term care facilities and 120,000 long-term care residents across 24 states.

“It’s exciting that we exceeded our goal of vaccine doses distributed, while continuing our national expansion in the long-term care industry. We are proud to consistently be a reliable partner for long-term care facility residents, staff, and their loved ones.”

“We are proud to have been able to fight on the frontlines against the COVID-19 virus. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone involved in the success of our COVID-19 vaccination effort,” said Mindy Ferris, EVP of Pharmacy Operations & Customer Success, PharmScript. “Thank you to all our employees and partners for your collaboration and dedication throughout the pandemic and beyond.”

When COVID-19 vaccines first became available late last year, long-term care facilities were a top priority for vaccine delivery. The federal government partnered with major pharmacy chains, including PharmScript, to administer shots to residents and staff. However, when the vaccine rollout began to expand to the broader population, the larger pharmacy chains shifted their focus to a wider national rollout. Due to capacity issues, the major chains had to pause distribution to long-term care facilities. Meanwhile, PharmScript stayed focused on the most vulnerable population and has not missed a week of vaccine clinics since they began their vaccine program one year ago.

“Over the course of the pandemic, long-term care facilities have overcome a multitude of challenges from visitor restrictions, staff attrition, and labor and supply shortages. Not to mention, this is a vulnerable population, which comes with its own set of challenges,” said Justin Craigie, Chief Operating Officer. “It’s exciting that we exceeded our goal of vaccine doses distributed, while continuing our national expansion in the long-term care industry. We are proud to consistently be a reliable partner for long-term care facility residents, staff, and their loved ones.”
