Join PharmScript, LLC. on Wednesday, July 9th, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EDT. Ruth West, RN, BC, IPc, with Consistent Compliance, LLC, will present the webinar.
This program is the second part of delving into dementia, mental disorders, and behavioral issues that create resident outbursts. We will focus on how to address individual residents directly as they exhibit challenging behaviors, using interventions outlined in their care plan. Individualized approaches that CNAs and other staff members can attempt to help calm the resident will also be reviewed.
The purpose of behavior management is to prevent unnecessary psychotropic drugs, which can now be an abuse deficiency on surveys unless staff have the appropriate documentation.
We will dive deeper into the different types of behaviors, different types of interventions, and what psychotropics would benefit or not benefit your resident. Effective and compliant documentation will be discussed.
Ruth will share the following learning objectives:
- Participants will understand how to deal with severe behaviors
- Nurses will understand the importance of meeting with CNA staff daily to inform them of residents with behaviors and how to deal with them
- Physicians and nurses will understand the requirement for documentation whenever a new behavior occurs, and whether or not the care plan was effective
- All staff will understand the importance of having a care plan that is specific and individualized to the behaviors of residents with dementia or other behavioral problems
The webinar is approved for 1.00 CEU credit for nursing home administrators, directors of nursing, and nurses.
